NARRATIVE TEXT



What is the narrative text !!!!
Narrative text is a text used for the purpose of entertaining or amusing, creating, stimulating, emotions, motivating and teaching or listeners and it usually deals with experience.
Narrative text is a text which contains about story (fiction/nonfiction/tales/fables/myths/epic) and its plot consists of climax of the story (complication) then followed by the resolution.

 

Generic structure of narrative text are :
~ Orientation ( Sees the scene and introduces the participants. It answer the questions; Who, What,   
   When, and Where ).
~ Complication ( A crisis or a problem arises. It usually involves the main characters ).
~ Resulation ( The crisis is resolved, for better or for worse ).
~ Re-Orientation ( The change which happens to the participants and the lessons we can learn from the  
   story.

The purpose of the narrative text is :
To amuse or entertain the readers.

Types of narrative text :
1.    Fables     > Which tend to be folk tales with a moral message in it. However, some are giving another definition of terms related to Fables.
Example : Kancil & Buaya, etc….

2.    Legend    >  Legend is a story about the origin of a place.
Example : Danau Toba, Batu Banama, etc….

3.    Sage    >  Sage is a story of heroism.

4.    Myth    >  Myth is more directed to stories related to local beliefs about something.
